Tell the Wolves I'm Home 3 (Pages 150 - end)

 RATING: OKAY

SPOILERS!!!

I have to say that the friendship between Toby and June does not feel right to me. I understand that she wants to be close to someone her uncle Finn loved. What I don't understand is that Toby acts irresponsibly, giving cigarettes and alcohol to a fourteen-year-old, still in braids. They see each other often because June's parents spend the whole day out as it is the busiest time for the couple who are accountants. Only her sister Greta discovers the truth when she rummaged through June's things and found what Toby had given her. From that point onwards the two sister avoid each other.

Throughout the book we discover that Toby is also sick with AIDs and is dying. Then there is an article in the newspaper about the most wanted paintings, one of which is the portrait of Greta and June that Finn painted. Their mother placed it in a vault at the bank adn gave the girls keys to the vault. June has gone a few times. The first time she discovered a small skull painted on Greta's hand, and she realised that Greta had painted it. Afterwards, June used gold paint to draw on their hair and the background, and Greta painted her lips very red. A man is now interested in exhibiting the painting, and Danni, Jen's mother, arranges to meet him. Then when she sees the painting, she tbinks that it had been June who had defaced the painting and she flies off the handle. June is grounded, and that night it is the premiere of Greta's play. June agreed to go to the party in the woods afterwards, and she knows that Greta would find her sister on her spot, but now as she has been grounded, she can't go. However, she can't tell her sister as she leaves the auditorium straight after the play.

June is worried about her sister as it was raining, and Greta hasn't arrived yet. June decides to call Toby, asking him to go and fetch her sister. Some time later there is a knock at the door. It is the police with Greta, who is in an inebriated state. They tell her parenats and June that they find her like that and with a man, Tobias, who is now waiting in their car. Then Greta comes up with explanation adn the police think that they won't be able to charge Toby.

That night June and Greta sleep together, and Greta tells her that she has been jealous of her because of June's relationship with Finn. She admits she wanted Finn to die because she wanted her sister back, adn now June has Toby. The girls talk and talk, and they finally seem to make up.

The next few days June is very worried about Toby, who doesn't answer the phone in his apartment. When she calls the police, she is told that they let him go but an ambulance had to take him to hospital. June calls the hospital, and Toby can hardly speak because he is wheezing and coughing all the time. June tells her sister that she wants to see him, and when their parents are asleep, Greta drives the car and they get to the hospital. Greta leaves, adn June goes to the room where Toby is. They talk, and she apologises for what happpened, and June decides to take Toby home. So she helps him get dressed and they take a taxi home. When Dannii wakes up, he is sleeping on the sofa. June tells her and her father everything, adn Dannii seems to regret her attitude. That morning Toby dies.

This was an interesting read but I find some parts difficult for me to accept as true.
