The Invisible Guardian 2 (Pages 255 - 363)

 SPOILERS!!!

Johana's stepfather is arrested and he confesses everything. He killed her after she resisted his kisses and tried to defend herself. Then he thought that he could emulate the Basajaun murderer and ran to his house for string and tried to remember the way the killer arranged the young girls' bodies. What Jason says that he didn't removed her arm. When he returned to the hut after an hour and a half, he noticed the arm gone. He even says he felt someone's presence as if someone was watching him, and he heard a motor close by.

Amaia tries to study the other leads: the hair of animal found on Carla's body and the cakes. The bear experts think that the analysis of the hair is inconclusive and it could be any animal, but they don't think it is a bear. Then they tell her that their laboratory runs comparative tests and they can do it faster than through official channels. Amaia decides to go with them to Huesca and Jonan goes with her because the laboratory could compare the local flours they have samples of with the cakes left on the bodies. The results come back negative and there is no match. The strange thing is that Flora, who has a bakery and makes cakes, has suddenly change the flours they use, claiming that the one they have been using has worsened its quality and has even told her employee to remove all the sacks with that flour. Flora knows about the cakes because Maia has told her, so what is she trying to hide? I don't think she is the murderer, but could she be protecting someone? Maybe her ex-husband, Victor?

Flora is hateful. When she joins the family on Sunday for her regular lunch, she says terrible things about the girls who have been murdered. She claims that the girls behaved indecently and they ended up like that because they had it coming. Amaia and the rest are horrified, and then the attack turns to Amaia. Flora defends her mother, saying that Amaia is lying and their mother never tried to kill her. She simply slapped her and Amaia fell in the kneading trough. Even though Aunt Engrasi tells her that she is wrong, Flora stands her ground. And then we learn that Rosario is alive. I thought she was dead, but it turns out that Flora is so hostile towards Amaia because she thinks she could have done something to avoid her mother from being institutionalized. Apparently, Rosario attacked a nurse when she was in hospital and bit her, hacking part of her neck. Thankfully, the nurse survived, but the judge sent Rosario to a mental hospital, and this is what Flora thinks is unfair. I really can't understand Flora and that hatred she has. Amaia tells her husband, James, that her mother hates her and wants to kill her. Actually, the nurse she attacked had blonde hair like her and the same complexion, and when Rosario was being immobilized after the attack, she kept calling Amaia's name and cackling wickedly.
