 SPOILERS!!!

These are the characters in this novel.

Regular characters in the series:

  • Kate Marshall (47) is the main character. Nineteen years ago she was a detective, investigating the murders of young women killed at the hands of a criminal, named the Nine Elms cannibal. Her boss then was Peter Conway, and she had an affair with him. Kate discovered that Peter Conway was the cannibal, and he almost killed her when he realised she had discovered the truth.  After that, during the trial it was discovered that she had had an affair with the murderer. Things went from bad to worse because she lost her job, and then she discovered that she was pregnant with Peter’s baby. It was too late to have a termination, and Kate had the baby even though she was terrified. Yet, she fell in love with Jake as soon as she had him in her arms. After that, she had drinking problems, and as a consequence, her parents filed for custody of Jake, and they won. After working at a university for some years, Kate decided to start her own detective agency and Tristan agreed to be her partner. Kate also manages the caravan park and shop which her friend Myra left her in her will.

In this book they sort out their issues when Tristan goes to find him to ask for his help in the case. Ade was the policeman who responded to the call of Charlie's family.
  • Sarah Harper (28) is Tristan’s sister. She doesn’t like Kate because she thinks her brother shouldn’t be working for her. Sarah now has a baby boy.
