SPOILERS!!!
Chloe starts having doubts about Dan's guilt. When his lawyer, Felix, who she had an affair with, refuses to talk to her, she decides to go to his office. The secretary knows her and explains that she will have to way as Felix is in court. As she is left in his office, she searches his drawers and finds the girl's testimony. In the tape Carly explains how she was sexually assaulted several times, and she explains that it was one of the men who she sees at the school, and every time he assaulted her, he washed his ands in the sink and gave her some jelly bears. Also he says that the man was white, had dark hair and his car was blue. Chloe is caught red-handed by Felix, and she can't deny she saw the film. Felix explains that there are some inaccuracies. First, there is no sink in the room the girl claims she was assaulted in. Also, she says that she saw the man every day, but that doesn't tally with Dan's notes. Felix also says that things are not good for Dan because the other two men who could be suspects are out of the frame. One is a black man, and the other has glasses and a beard, which Carly said her assaultant didn't have.
Chloe then rings Dan's wife, and the woman agrees to meet her. Helena says that she is very angry with her and Dan, but she knows he didn't do it. He is a good father and a thoroughly decent man.
When Dan calls, Chloe finally agrees to see him, and he explains how the police have charged him and everything he said during the questioning was twisted and made him sound guilty. Chloe is starting to believe but she can't let him back in her life because there is the matter of the photograph of Alice. She feels sorry for him because even though he may be acquitted of the charges, he won't get his job back and his life will be totally different.
What I don't understand is why there is not a clear identification. Why haven't the police shown the girl photographs of the suspects?
