Candles and Roses - Characters

These are the characters in the novel for future reference.

REGULAR CHARACTERS OR IMPORTANT REFERENCES

- DI Alec McKay is the main character. He has his own demonds. His only daughter, Lizzie, was killed when a underground train ran her over. Her death was deemed an accident, but Alec and his wife wonder if Lizzie committed suicide because she always had mental problems. Alec and his wife are having problems after Lizzie's death, and Chrissie suggests counselling. When Alec's attitude shows reluctance, she feels that her husband does not care about their marriage any long, and she leaves their home. 

- Chrissie McKay is Alec's wife. 

- DS Ginny Horton is Alec's partner. 

- DCI Helena Grant is Alec's boss. She is a widow, and at the end of the book she asks Alec to have a drink with her.

- Isla is Ginny's partner. She is a lawyer.

- Jack Henderson is the scene-of-crime investigator. 

- DC Josh Carlisle is in McKay's unit. 

- DC Mary Grahm is in McKay's unit.

- Dr Jacquie Green is the senior forensic pathologist

CHARACTERS IN THIS NOVEL

- Lizzie Hamilton is a young woman whose disappearance McKay investigated but he couldn't solve. At the end of the book she is found with her father's and her boss's dead bodies, and she tells McKay how her father is the murderer of the three killed women. Yet, McKay has his doubts. Lizzie is charged with the deaths of her father and Gorman.

- Katy Scott is the first victim. Her parents are very religious and McKay suspects that her father abused her. She had a sister who died of laekemia, and after that, Katy went off the rails according to her father, and then one day she left. Her father told McKay that she and his wife hadn't heard from her in years, but when McKay questions the wife alone, she confesses that Katy called her regularly behind her husband's back.

- Joanne Cameron was the second victim.

- Rhona Young is the third victim.

- Dennie Gorman is the landlord who was LIzzie Hamilton's boss. At the end of the book Lizzie kills him. 

- John Robbins/Jack Robinson is Lizzie's father who she kills at the end of the book. MacKay comes across him when his wife chooses him for counselling. Lizzie explains at the end of the book that her father abused her and that is why he left, and she also says that her father killed the three young women. 

- Kenny Hamilton was the yougn man Lizzie was briefly married to. 

- Kelly is the young woman who found Katy's body with her boyfriend. Then Kelly decides to get a job in the pub where Lizzie Hamilton was hired because she thougth she could find out what had happened to her.

- Greg Johnson (18) is Kelly's boyfrieend.

- Danny Reynolds wass a friend of Katy's.

- Megs SCott is Katy's mother. She confesses that she kept in touch with her daughter behind her husband's back.

- Ronnie Scott was Katy's father. He is very strict in his religious views, and McKay suspects that he abused his daughter. 

- Thomas Cameron was Joanne's father. He is now married and has stepdaughters.

-ARchie Young was Rhona's father, and he committed suicide when he was arrested for abuse.
