SPOILERS!!!
As we get to know more, it is even more confusing.
Cody talks to Fletcher and even though he agrees to talk to the podcaster, he tells him that he can't reveal anything. Cody also approaches Jess, but she refuses to talk. Then she tells her husband, Nick, and he threatens Cody. When they're together, Jess wonders if she should contact someone called Felix Abernathy, and Nick warns her not to call him. Yet, she contacts him behind Nick's back. I am curious about Felix and why she wants to talk to him. In the parts about the past we learn that Jess met Felix in a nightclub, and we understand that he used her in sexual parties like some kind of prostitute. What I don't understand is what she wants him to do now. Felix is in RP.
In the parts about the past we discover that when Fletcher and Danny go to talk to Jess, she is very upset which is logical. When they ask her where she was, she mentions Paradise, and Fletcher knows that she refers to a casino. They go there and she has been caught on CCTV. That night Jess was evidently drunk, and at some point she talks to a man who I think must be Felix. The owner of the casino says he doesn't know who he is, and to my surprise we discover that Fletcher also knows but he doesn't say. And they also see the footage from the camera in the car park, and they see that Felix picks her up after kissing her violently, and then they drive away. Now I wonder if Fletcher is a good copper. We know that the senior officer, Smail, was taken off the case for allegedly assaulting Jess, but when he talks to Cody, he keeps saying that he never touched her. That was the end of Smail's career, so now I wonder if maybe Fletcher tampered with the investigation.
In present time Fletcher and Danny get the identity of the body found. It was Peter Dale, a businessman and a fraudster. His secretary, Hazel Collins, reported his disappearance, but it was believed that he had gone to Venezuela with the money he had made from his fraud. Fletcher and Danny go to see Hazel, who is now in his seventies and lives with his daughter, Annabel, because she doesn't have all her mental capacities with her. Fletcher is surprised that Hazel and Annabel live in a very luxurious apartment. They find a very frail lady who tends to doze in the middle of the conversation. What the old woman lets out is that she and Peter were lovers. When the two detectives are leaving, Fletcher comments that Annabel Collins is the spit image of Peter Dale, and he is sure that she didn't know.
This is getting more and more intriguing. Who killed those boys? Why? And is Peter Dale's body connected with the two boys' deaths?
