SPOILERS!!!
I have to say that the novel has taken me by surprise. I thought that John Fletcher was a good guy, but it turns out that he framed poor Sid Novice, a mentally impaired man, who he manipulated to confess that he had hurt the boys. Sid usually hung out with Charlie, Scott and Cody, and they treated him hideously, but he kept coming to him. When a witness testified having seen Sid, Fletcher and Danny went to see him, and Sid said that he saw the two boys when they were dead. Yet, on the way to the station Fletcher manipulated Sid into saying that he had hurt the two children. The thing is that Fletcher was under Felix's thumb, and for some reason Felix wanted the matter to be solved without involving him and Jess.
At present Cody is trying to discover the truth, but it is not an easy task. He and his wife, Maya, are receiving threatening letters, and the last time Maya has been assaulted with a knife, and she escaped in a distraction. Cody is very worried, but both of them know that there is someone who is afraid of what they can find out. The thing is that Jess called Felix, and he is also in contact with Fletcher. It is such a terrible thing that a simple soul like Sid had to spend many years in prison. But did Jess kill her own son and his friend? Why? There is an hour that Jess can't account for, and Cody is trying to find out what happened in those seventy-three minutes.
