RATING: VERY FUNNY

We accompany Oliver on a journey of self-discovery. When one of his readers suggests he confront Sam, he decides to give it a try. This is not something that he wants to do, but he goes to the garden centre where Sam works. Losing his nerve, he hides in a den from where he discovers that Sam is now in a relationship with a colleague. There is a very funny moment when Ollie discovers that the little girl who was in the theme park when he proposed and wiped a bogey on his nose is in the den with him. Then he is discovered by Sam, her boyfriend, and the girl's mother. After a lot of confusion, Sam tells him that they need to talk in private. We discover that Sam was right to turn him down because Ollie proposed to her after they have been dating for just three months. Ollie realises that he has a problem and defines himself as needy.
Ollie tries to find himself, and agrees to do mindfulness in a reader's group. He takes Wimsy with him, and the reader, Lizzy, and Wimsy hit it off, and they eventually start a relationship. Lizzy suggests they should do something called sensory deprivation which consists in floating in very salty water in some containers with a lid. Ollie and Wimsy decide to heed her recommendation, and during the experiment Ollie hears his subconscious in the shape of an elephant. His subconscious hints something about his parents. Then Ollie goes to see his parents on his fortieth-wedding anniversary. Ollie's parents are the perfect couple, and they have never had an argument. The vow renewal is beautiful, and Ollie stays with them. The morning after he is woken by some shouts, and Ollie is alarmed. When he reaches the kitchen, he finds his parents in the middle of a terrible argument, and he gets upset. Then his parents say that of course they argue, but they have always tried to protect him. Ollie thus discovers that no relationship is perfect.
After that, Ollie feels he is on the right track, and feeling positive he decides to try some other suggestion, which is a parachute jump. Many of his readers have come to see him jump, and when the moment arrives, he is too scared, but thanks to his instructor's cajoling he takes the plunge and does it. When he has landed, a breeze makes his parachute swell, and as a consequence he finds himself push towards Erica, and they fall down on the ground. They have an intense moment, which is broken by Erica's phone ringing. One of the men in the board tells her that the owner, Benedict, has summoned the board as she is not around, intending to get rid of the magazine. Erica and Ollie drive to the city fast, and Erica tells him that the reason why Benedict is so intent in destroying her magazine is that once he made a pass at her and she refused him.
They get to the company's headquarters, and Ollie is refused entrance, but Erica agrees to let him hear what is going on through the phone. Things are not going well, and Ollie decides to gatecrash the meeting, and he explains the situation, and the board decides to keep the magazine active.
Once outside Erica hugs him and then she kisses him. However, Ollie tells her that he wants her very much, but now it is not his time because he needs to do more healing. Erica understands what he is saying, and she tells him that she won't wait for him, but when he finds he is ready and she is available, she will be ready for him too.
The epilogue is Ollie in India, riding an elephant, which has been his dream and what he wanted to do with Sam.
I found the book funny even though there are parts which I liked less.
