Dumped Actually - Facts

When Ollie goes camping and has the episode with the deer, it is in the New Forest where he goes. The New Forest is one of the largest remaining tracts of unenclosed pasture land, heathland and forest in Southern England, covering southwest Hampshire and southeast Wiltshire.

When Benedict invites Ollie to a round of golf, the latter says that he was fourth in a pitch and putt game. Pitch and putt is an amateur sport very similar to, and derived from, golf, where the hole length is typically up to 90 metres  and just 2–3 clubs are typically used.

Ollie and Wimsy try mindfulness as a way to recover from their breakups. Mindfulness is the cognitive skill, usually developed through meditation, of sustaining meta-awareness of the contents of one's own mind in the present moment.

They also try sensory deprivation. Sensory deprivation is the deliberate reduction or removal of stimuli from one or more of the senses. Simple devices such as blindfolds or hoods and earmuffs can cut off sight and hearing, while more complex devices can also cut off the sense of smell, touch, taste, thermoception (heat-sense), and the ability to know which way is down. Short-term sessions of sensory deprivation are described as relaxing and conducive to meditation; however, extended or forced sensory deprivation can result in extreme anxiety, hallucinations, bizarre thoughts, and depression.
