RATING: VERY GOOD
SPOILERS!!!
Sadie finally get together with John. He returns after Mrs Cuthbert writes to him, saying that Sadie is worried. John goes to find her, and he tells her that he stopped writing because he thought that Sadie could never have the feelings he had for her. When he was given leave, he decided to come and find out for sure. So Sadie finally tells him that she is also in love with him. They agree not to tell anybody until the end of the war.
The we reach November 11 when the Germans agree to an armistice, and we see how each of the characters receive the news. It is a happy moment for everybody, but Beattie also thinks that life won't be the same from now on, and she thinks about all the men who have died, Bobby, Louis, Charles, Rupert, Len... and other local boys.
The end of the novel has a sad note when the young boy who in the first book left to join the war is killed as neither he nor the pilot who shoots him knows about the armistice.
I really love this series. Now I'll read the last book of the series, and I'm going to miss these characters that have become part of my day to day.
