The characters all belong to the Women's Land Army during the Second World War. The Women's Land Army (WLA) was a British civilian organization, active during both World Wars, that recruited women ("Land Girls") to work in agriculture, replacing men sent to fight and ensuring food supplies during national shortages. These women performed demanding tasks like ploughing, harvesting, milking cows, and pest control, wearing distinctive uniforms of green jerseys, brown breeches, and hats.
