Legado en los huesos 5 (Pages 256 - 345)

 SPOILERS!!!

Amaia informs Judge Markina that she and Jonan are to take the samples to a lab in Ainsa to be analised for DNA. Then he tells her that he will accompany her. I find the judge's attitude irritating. Amaia knows that she feels drawn to him, but she loves her husband. They meet Dr Tatchenko and her husband Dr Gonzalez and they wait for them to finish. Tatchenko notices that the judge is a temptation for Amaia, and they have a conversation about it, and Dr Tatchenko tells her that being married doesn't mean being blind or deaf, and loyalty loses its worth if one is not tempted.

Amaia has to leave before they have the results, she gets a call from Iriarte. There has been another attack on the church. Someone has ran a forklift into the church and made a hole, leaving some bones. Amaia drives to Arizkun, and Dr Martin tells her that he will analyse the bones. The only link to the agotes is the boy, and Amaia wants to question him again. She has an argument with Zabalza because he claims that the boy is not involved, and Amaia accuses him of becoming entangled in the story personally. They eventually question the boy the next morning, and Beñat says that someone contacted him through his blog, and he enjoyed his ideas. Yet, when he started using bones, he started to fear. The boy says that the man called himself Cago and has no fingers in one hand.

James calls the station, wanting his wife to contact him urgently. Amaia calls, and he tells her that  it is about the house of her family, which Engrassi has given to them. The architect that they had hired told him that he couldn't start anything because he had seen the soil in the garden moved and some holes had been made. Amaia takes Iriarte with him, and they go to the house, and they see that James was right. There are holes and the soil has been disturbed. Amaia discovers bones and skeletons that belong to children, and it breaks her heart to imagine her ancestors having to bury their children here. This is the traditional graveyard in Baztan as people believed to keep the bones of their dead children nearby as protection. Amaia asks Iriarte to keep this thing secret because if it were known, it would attract the press, and that is the last thing she needs. Iriarte promises not to say anything.

When Amaia gets home, James realises that she has a temperature, and he makes her have a hot shower and go to bed.
