Treacherous Strand - Facts

 

The book is set in Inishowen. Inishowen is a peninsula in the north of County Donegal in Ireland. Inishowen is the most northerly peninsula on the island of Ireland. 


Marguerite is found dead on the Isle of Doagh. The Isle of Doagh is a small peninsula in the north of Inishowen on the north coast of County Donegal in Ulster, Ireland. It once was an island. Over time, the channel between Doagh and the mainland silted up and it became joined to the mainland.


Some developers hire Ben because they want to build a hotel in Malin Head. Malin Head is the most northerly point of mainland Ireland, located in the townland of Ardmalin on the Inishowen peninsula in County Donegal. 


Ben lives in Malin Town. Malin  is a village in County Donegal, Ireland, situated 6 km  north of Carndonagh. 


Ballyliffin is where Adelaine stays for her mother's funeral. Ballyliffin is a village on the R238 road near the north coast of the Inishowen peninsula in County Donegal.

Ben meets a former member of the cult in Aughnacloy. Aughnacloy is a village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Close to the border with County Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland, the village is about 20 km southwest of Dungannon, and 7 km southeast of Ballygawley.

Ben goes to see Adelaine in Norway. She lives in a commune that is north of Bergen. Bergen is a city on Norway’s southwestern coast. It's surrounded by mountains and fjords, including Sognefjord, the country’s longest and deepest.
