RATING: GOOD
Nancy travels to New York with Henry, and they stay in Harlem as he knows he can't show himself with a white woman anywhere else.As Nancy was still incensed with her mother, she wrote a pamphlet against her, called Black and White Ladyship: An Anniversary. The pamphlet directly attacked white supremacist and classist attitudes—most notably quoting her mother, society hostess Lady Emerald Cunard.
Nancy finished Negro, her anthology, with the contributions of many friends. It was published in 1934.
Nancy died in 1965. She suffered from mental illness and poor physical health, worsened by alcoholism, poverty, and self-destructive behaviour. She was committed to a mental hospital after a fight with London police. After her release, her health declined even further, and she weighed less than 27 kg when she was found on the street in Paris and brought to the Hôpital Cochin, where she died two days later.
