The Only Suspect - Facts

When Marina meets Rick, she tells him that she loves Dusty Springfield's music. Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien (16 April 1939 – 2 March 1999), better known by her stage name Dusty Springfield, was an English singer. With her distinctive mezzo-soprano voice, she was a popular singer of blue-eyed soul, pop, and dramatic ballads, with French chanson, country, and jazz also in her repertoire.

One of the characters is said to be flexitarian. A flexitarian diet, also called a semi-vegetarian diet, is one that is centered on plant-based foods with limited consumption of meat and other animal products. People who follow a flexitarian diet often reduce their intake of meat and animal products while increasing consumption of other plant-based food groups such as fruits, vegetables, and whole-grains.

The expressions I have learnt with this book are:

A freeloader is an informal, disapproving noun for a person who takes advantage of others' generosity, money, food, or housing without paying or giving anything in return. That is what Alex calls Zara.

A skinful refers to an amount of alcohol sufficient to make a person drunk.

Roll up one's sleeves means to prepare for hard work, get serious, or tackle a difficult task.

Sling one's hook means to go away, leave, or get lost.

Sanguine means being optimistic, cheerful, and confident, especially in a difficult or uncertain situation.

Casing the joint means to thoroughly observe or examine a location, usually with the hidden intent of planning a future crime like a robbery or burglary.
