Acceptable Loss - Facts

Monk now works for the Thames River Police at Wapping. The Thames River Police was formed in 1800 to tackle theft and looting from ships anchored in the Pool of London and in the lower reaches and docks of the Thames. Its base was (and remains) in Wapping High Street. It has gradually evolved into the Marine Policing Unit.

Hester and Monk live in Paradise Place.

Hester clinic is in Portpool Lane.

Monk makes enquiries at Cremorne Gardens as being a ill-reputed place and finds out that the cravat belongs to Cardew. Cremorne Gardens were popular pleasure gardens by the side of the River Thames in Chelsea. Cremorne Gardens rapidly acquired a reputation as the territory of the demi-monde frequented by women of questionable morals.

Parfit's body was found at Chiswick Eyot. Chiswick Eyot is a 3.266-acre  narrow, uninhabited river island of the Thames.
