 Nick and the other characters live in a small village in the North York Moors. The North York Moors is an upland area in north-eastern Yorkshire. It contains one of the largest expanses of heather moorland in the United Kingdom. The area was designated as a National Park in 1952.

Eric has to go and live with his mother in Derby temporarily. Derby is an English city on the banks of the River Derwent in Derbyshire.
