Missing Quail Crossings - Facts

Quail Crossings is near a village in Texas. exas is the most populous state in the South Central region of the United States. It borders Louisiana to the east, Arkansas to the northeast, Oklahoma to the north, New Mexico to the west.

The book starts with the end of the war, and Elmer and Tiny find each other celebrating peace in Times Square, New York. That was at 7:03 P.M. Aug. 14, 1945.

Tiny was in the Army nurse corps. The US Army Nurse Corps (ANC) is a special branch of the Army responsible for providing nursing care and services to military personnel, families, and retirees. During World War II, the Army Nurse Corps provided critical medical care to U.S. soldiers, both domestically and overseas. Over 59,000 women served in the corps, working in a variety of settings, from field hospitals and evacuation hospitals to hospital ships and even on the front lines.

Amarillo is the closest town to Quails Crossing. Amarillo is a city in the Texas Panhandle. The Texas Panhandle is a region in the northernmost part of the state, comprising 26 counties and bordering New Mexico to the west and Oklahoma to the north and east.

Tiny has a difficult pregnancy, and one of her cravings is pickled Okra. Okra is a flowering plant in the mallow family native to East Africa. Cultivated in tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate regions around the world for its edible green seed pods, okra is used in the cuisines of many countries.
Elmer goes to see Thomas's parents in Lubbock. Lubbock is a city in northwest Texas known as the birthplace of rock ’n’ roll legend Buddy Holly.

Thomas died in the Ardennnes forest. The Ardennes is a region of extensive forests, rough terrain, rolling hills and ridges primarily in Belgium and Luxembourg, extending into Germany and France.
