Skin and Other Stories by Roald Dahl - AN AFRICAN STORY- (Pages 53 - 70)

 SPOILERS!!!

4. AN AFRICAN STORY

First Published: 1958

In this  short story a pilot has written the account of an old man he met in the Highlands of Kenya. When the pilot died, they discovered the story. The old man found his dog beaten to a pulp, and he knew the man who had done it was Judson. The old man had to finish the dog off, and when he asked Judson, he said that he couldn't put up with the continuous sound the dog made when licking. In the following days they discovered that the cow had no milk in the morning, which meant that someone was stealing the milk. The old man watched the cow at night, and he discovered that a poisonous snake sucked the milk. However, he told Judson that the thief was a young man, and they needed to surprise him and attack him. So he told Judson that he would hid next to the cow, under straw, and Judson agreed. Then when the old man saw the snake, he alerted Judson who jumped over the cow, and we imagine that the snake killed Judson.

This was also a very twisted story about revenge and dark feelings.
