SPOILERS!!!
The other guests that are in the resort are Patrick Green, who is a plastic surgeon, and his parner Coulson, who is a psychotherapist. Justin Black is a pop singer, and he is in Kluven with his girlfriend, topmodel Emily Frances. Connie and Graham Edwards are an elderly couple, and Kenneth and Serena Roscoe are friends with Martin and Ana Svenson, the owners.
The turning point in the book is when Viggo announces that he wants to leave Kluven. He first tells Martin, and when Martin suggests Petra, the sous chef, should replace him, Viggo refuses, saying that their agreement was that if he left, the resort would stop working.
When Martin announces Viggo's decision to the staff, Petra is very upset. Theo, the general manager, had plans to extend the business, but with Viggo's departure his plans are thwarted. Petra talks to Martin, offering herself as a replacement, but he refuses, understanding that the allure of Kluven is Viggo, and with him gone, people wouldn't be interested. On her way back to the restaurant she runs into Viggo, and they have a fight, and she even scratches his face.
From Viggo's thoughts we understand that he is having anxiety problems, and he disappeared for three days as he felt unable to function, and a farmer living nearby helped him. His mental health is the reason why he is leaving Kluven.
Then Alex goes for a walk that night after dinner. Viggo's food shed is open and he is curious, and when he enters, he finds Viggo left. When he alerts everybody, Martin and Theo are keen to keep the death under wraps, saying that he surely was attacked by a a bear even though it is clear that Viggo was stabbed. Alex and Lara then decide to investigate.
There are two people who are scared. Petra fears that her run-in with Viggo may make her suspect. And the pop singer Jake also had a disagreement with Viggo. The previous night he was caught by Viggo when he was taking heroin. Viggo took his stash and threw it away. Now he finds his shirt front covered in blood, and he hardly remembers what happened. He decides to get rid of the shirt. His girlfriend, Emily, finally makes him tell her the truth when she finds him under the weather. Jake says that he is an addict and about his disagreement with Viggo, and Emily tells him that she is certain that he is not a killer.
I am hooked and wonder who will have killed Viggo. I am pretty sure that those who seem suspicious are not the culprits.
