RATING: GOOD BUT TOO LONG
SPOILERS!!!
The end shows Fred crossing to Spain but he is arrested and sent to a camp. While he is there, a British representative arrives and takes him back to England. Fred is told that he will have join the war in a few days. As he has a few days of leave, he travels to Scotland and turns up before Chrissie and Rachel Anne. The girl first refuses to talk to him as she is upset he didn't come to find her sooner. Fred and Chrissie talk, and they discover that their love is still there. Rachel finally comes around, and Chrissie and Fred get married.
Fred survives the war, and he returns to his family. Fred and Chrissie travel to Skye where the remains of Archie are buried.
I liked the book, but I found the reason why Chrissie and Fred fall out too simplistic. The language, though, is beautiful, and I love learning about St Kilda.
