A Christmas Grace - Facts

The novella is set in 1895. 

The novella takes place in Connemara. Connemara  is a region on the Atlantic coast of western County Galway, in the west of Ireland. 

The characters talk about Humanity Dick Martin, referred to as the king of Connemara. Colonel Richard Martin (15 January 1754 – 6 January 1834), was an Irish politician and campaigner against cruelty to animals. He was known as Humanity Dick, a nickname bestowed on him by King George IV. 

Emily travels to Galway to find out more about Conor. Galway is the most populous settlement in the province of Connacht, the fifth most populous city on the island of Ireland and the fourth most populous in the Republic of Ireland.
