This is not the first time I read this book, and even though it won't bring any surprise for me, I know I'll still enjoy it.
Poirot is on holiday and is staying in a hotel which is in quite an isolated spot. The other guests include:
Mr and Mrs Gardener are an American married couple. She is a chatterbox and the man seems to humour her in everything.
Major Barry who has been in the army for decades.
Emily Brewster is a single woman staying at the hotel.
Rosamnud Darnley who is a clothes rdesigner
Reverend Stephen Lane is a vicar.
The gossip is in the Redferns, Christine and Patrick, and Arlena Marshall. Arlena is a former actress but she is the kind of woman who gets men's attention. She is married to Captain Kenneth Marshall, who is a widower with a sixteen-year-old daughter, who dislikes Arlena. Now Patrick seems to be infatuated with Arlena, much to the chagrin of his wife. Poirot watches the dynamics between the Referns and Arlena, and he fears that this is a very serious matter, and he fears that murder may happen.
