A Carol for the Dead 3 (Pages 89 - 131)

SPOILERS!!!

Carol takes the children to the police, and Roger describes the man he saw in the car. A police officer draws a portrait based on Roger's description, which they will distribute to the press. What Carol asks Chops is discretion. However, a reporter, Dick Dalton, sees them leave, and he writes that the witnesses are three evacuee children staying with Carol Sinclair. Carol is very angry and goes to tell the police that the article has put the children in danger, and then she goes to complain to the newspaper.

The article brings her brother-in-law and sister-in-law to the house. Cressida is disapproving of Carol's decision to take in the children, and she starts saying that she is embarrassing the family. Thankfully, Carol defends herself and the children.

The police have discovered the blueprints of the bank in the night watchman's house, so they think that Fred Morrison was involved with the thieves. When he and Wilson interview the bank employees, they all say that Morrison kept himself to himself, and since he worked nights, they didn't interact with him much, but they doubt he was involved in the robbery. Then Herbert Williams is questioned, and at the end of the interview he says that he needs to confess. And that is where the chapter finishes.
