RATING: OKAY

When Madison talks to a social worker about Oliver's run-ins with the law, she learns that he was adopted by a therapist who treated victims of incest. It seems that the boy she adopted was the son of one of her patients, and when the social worker gives the name of the mother, Madison realises that Ruth, Kate's mother, is also Oliver's mother, and that means that Oliver is Kate's half-brother.
Kate is very upset because Oliver was her boyfriend. Oliver keeps leaving text messages and voice mails, but she refuses to reply. When Madison tries to talk to Oliver, he is nowhere to be found, and his wife doesn't know where he is.
Claudia is about to leave Marcus after she found Naomi's diary in one of his cabinets. She is supposed to go to Kate's, but then something happens. She and Bethany are kidnapped and when Claudia wakes up to find Martha there. Martha has escaped and she tells Claudia that they are being watched and she points at the cameras.
Claudia and Bethany manage to escape when Claudia hits Martha and forces her to give her the keys. The two of them take refuge in a pub, and Madison and Kate pick them up. Claudia has no intention to return with Marcus.
Madison discovers that James knew that Kate hadn't killed Naomi. It was Martha, who Marcus found with the bloody knife, but they thougth that Martha would not have been able to bear prison, so they didn't say anything when Kate was accused and she confessed because they thought that he was stronger.
Everything seems to point at the fact that Oliver is the killer, and Madison talks to Ruth's mother and Oliver's father, and they finally discover that Oliver is not the adopted child, but Dean, the therapist that Kate has been saying. Unbeknown to Madison, Kate has agreed to go and see him, and it is in the house, which belonged to Ruth's parents, he also has Martha, and he drugs Kate too. Dean confesses that he killed Ruth because she refused to acknowledge him, and he swore he would kill her daughters too. That is what he intends now. However, Anthea, who had been following Kate, recognised Dean as one of the men her daughter hung out with, so she discovers he killed her. Then the woman comes into the house and stabs Dean.
Dean doesn't die. He is sent to prison for killing Naomi and for the attempt murder of Kate and Martha. Anthea is not prosecuted because the witnesses, including Oliver, claim that she stabbed Dean in defence. Kate and Martha decide to travel to Australia and enjoy the life they couldn't before. Martha is fine and it was Dean who kept her sick by administering drugs. Marcus is now living with his father, as Claudia is divorcing him. She is now living in Kate's flat with Bethany, and Madison has offered her a temporary job, helping Emma, her PA. And Madison has finally agreed to have a relationship with Peter, and now she also enjoys more time with Molly.
I enjoyed the book, especially the parts about Madison, but the ending was a bit far-fetched for my taste.
