From now on I will add the interesting words I have learnt from reading the mentioned book.

- A boiled sweet is a hard candy made by boiling sugar and water to a high temperature, resulting in a hard, often fruit-flavored, translucent candy

- To be on the turn refers to the precise moment something starts to change direction or state.

- To reach the end of one's tether  is to be so tired, worried, or stressed by a difficult situation that you no longer have the strength, patience, or capacity to deal with it.

- Hoi polloi refers to the general public, the masses, or the common people, typically used in a slightly derogatory or snobbish manner.
- Skimming is a white-collar crime involving the illegal, stealthy capture of credit/debit card data using devices on ATMs or POS terminals.

- Stroppy is used to describe someone who is bad-tempered, argumentative, sulky, or easily annoyed.

- A sink school is a school in a very poor, deprived area with exceptionally low academic standards, poor discipline, and little prospect of improvement.
