We discover that Luisa Fernanda hasn't been talking to Cecilia or Latour. She is sick, and both Cecilia and Latour died years ago. Her daughter comes into the room and just plays along when her mother mentions these two people. Luisa Fernanda is in bed, sick and probably suffering from dementia.
Luisa Fernanda's memories take her next to France and the revolution of 1948. She was pregnant when the revolution broke out, and she was scared. There was outrage and people wanted to remove the king and declare the republic.
