I am going to start reading the books which the popular TV series Little House on the Prairie are based on.
The first book sis Little House in the Big Woods. The narrator is Laura, who tells us that she lives in a log house in the middle of the forest with her ma, pa, and her sisters Mary and Carrie. She tells us about being isolated and hearing the wolves at night. Laura tells us how they store food for the winter. Her father hunts deer or sometimes even bear. He also has a pig that they slaughter before winter and all the family work to make food out of the pig. I like the style and how the narrator sounds innocent and curious about life.
