SPOILERS!!!
There are only twelve chapters in this novel as Jane Austen never finished this book.
After recovering, Mr and Mrs Parker invite Charlotte Heywood to Sanditon. All Parker is interested in is bringin in people to his town. During the journey Parker tells Charlotte about Mrs Denham, a rich woman in Sanditon. She married twice, but she never had children. Now she has the company of Clara Brereton, a poor relation from her first husband, and from her second husband's family she is in contact with Sir Edward Denhan, the heir of the estate, and his sister, Miss Esther Denham.
Parker also tells Charlotte about his four siblings, Sidney, Arthur, Diane and Susan, who suffer from all kinds of maladies, and the reason they cannot visit him is because there is not a doctor in Sanditon. That is why he wanted to find one.
When they arrive at Sanditon, Parker has a letter from his sister Diane, telling him about all the ailments that she, Susan and Arthur complain about, and she also says that she has made arrangements for a family and a boarding school to spend the summer in Sanditon.
Then to Charlotte's surprise, Diane, Susan and Arthur turn up in Sanditon, claiming that she needs to make arrangements for the family she recommended Sanditon to. In the following chapters Charlotte realises that all the maladies that Parker's siblings complain about are nothing but exaggerated accounts.
Jane Austen describes Charlotte's perception of Sanditon and all the characters with the wit and humour that she excels at. It is a shame that she could not finish the novel as she died months later.
