Lo que escondían sus ojos 4 (Pages 335 - 552)

SPOILERS!!!

Sonsoles spends the summers in San Sebastian, and wanting to be close to her, Serrano takes his own family to spend the summer there. When Sonsoles and her husband run into the family, they invite them to dinner. Sonsoles tries to behave indifferently towards Ramon. Then he gives her a note, asking her to meet him in her own garden when everybody is in bed.

They meet and Sonsoles is happy to feel his kisses. What they do not notice is that the American governess is looking at them. We know that this woman is a spy. Matilde, Sonsoles's maid, found a gun in her bag when she was trying to find out if she had stolen Sonsoles's missing earring. When the governess, Olivia, realised that someone had searched her bag, she told Matilde that in the embassy she had been given the gun, which is not unusual for Americans, but she promised to give it back. Now when Olivia realises that Sonsoles and Serrano are lovers. So she sends a message to the embassy, which she knows will get to Churchill.

During their encounter Serrano tells Sonsoles to meet him the next day at an address in San Sebastian. Yet, the next day Francisco feels sick, so Sonsoles can't leave and she can't send a message to Serrano. When they talk on the phone next, he tells her that they need to stop their relationship. After that, Sonsoles is depressed and can't believe that Serrano has left her so easily.

Serrano has too many worries. He feels that his brother-in-law trusts him less and less, and he is busy with all the matters about the Blue Division in Russia. When he returns to San Sebastian, they run into Sonsoles, and he can't resist any longer, and he asks her to meet him. She does so while the children are on the beach with the governesses, and Olivia knows that the reason why the mistress is absent is because she is meeting her lover.

Serrano tells her that he will return to Madrid and won't return, and Sonsoles decides to go back. What surprises both of them is that rumours about a relationship between Serrano and a marquise are everywhere. Franco tells Serrano to stop their womanising, and he and Sonsoles agree to keep their distance. Francisco hears about the rumours in his club, and Sonsoles tells him that it is all lies and her friendship is with Zita, Serrano's wife. Zita also hears but she is loyal to her husband and can't believe the rumours.
