The Last Party - Characters

These are the characters in the novel for further reference:

• DC Ffion Morgan (30) is the main character in the novel. Ffion has kept a secret for sixteen years. When she was fourteen, she was part of the choir run by Rhys, and he seduced her. As a consequence, she got pregnant. Her parents were very upset, and they decided that it would be better if they said that the baby was Ffion's mother's. So that is what happened. In this novel, Seren learns that Ffion is her mother and not her sister, and she is very upset. After Ffion had Seren, she went to college and decided to become a police officer. Ffion was married to Huw Lewis, but she left him because he wanted children, and she refused to have a baby. On New Year's Eve Ffion had a one-night stand with a man, and she later discovered that he was the police officer she had to work with to solve the case of Rhys's murder. Ffion and Leo become close as they work together, and she confesses to him what happened to her sixteen years ago. At the end of the book she thinks she and Leo could be a couple, but she has to forget about it because she discovers that her mother killed Rhys after she learnt he was the one to seduce Ffion all these years ago. and Ffion decides to keep the secret.
• DC Leo Brady (36) is a police officer in the Cheshire Crime Unit. She and Ffion had a one-night stand on New Year's Eve, and then they discovered that they had lied about what they were when they had to work together on Rhys's case. Leo is divorced and has a son. His wife left him for another man, and in the novel she plans to take the boy to Australia. Ffion advises him to take her to court, and then Leo finally manage to get his rights. His ex-wife does not move to Australia because her boyfriend does not want to.
• Elen Morgan is Ffion's mother. Her husband died the year Seren was born. She and her husband decided that it was better for Seren to grow up as their daughter. Elen asked Ffion who Seren's father was, but she always claimed it was a boy who was in town on holiday. When Elen discovered that Rhys seduced her daughter and got her pregnant, she decided to kill him. 
• Seren Morgan (16) is Ffion's daughter but she grew up believing that she was her sister. When her friend Caleb made her see that she and FFion were so similar that they could be mother and daughter, Seren came demanding answers. Ffion could not deny the truth, and Seren was so upset that she almost drowned when she tried to run away on a boat. Ffion saved her, but Seren was still upset. Seren was also smitten with Rhys, not knowing that he was her father. Rhys guessed who she was when she found out that she was a relative of Ffion's. 
• Huw Ellis is FFion's ex-husband. He is a decorator and Rhys owed him a lot of money. Huw wanted children, but Ffion couldn't bring herself to get pregnant again after what happened during her teenage years. 
• DI Simon Crouch is Leo's boss and keeps making disparaging comments about him. Ffion makes Leo understand taht he needs to stand up to him. When he does so, his colleagues support him. At the end of the book DI Crouch congratulates Simon for the good job he has done.
• Rhys Lloyd (46) is the victim. He was an opera singer and his career was declining. The man was disliked by many. His wife intended to divorce him, and he was a womaniser. He also had financial problems, and he even deceived his mother to get his hands on the land that belonged to his father. He developed the land and created the Shore. 
• Yasmin Lloyd (45) was Rhys's wife. She intended to divorce him because he had fallen in love with Jonty, Rhys's financial partner. 
• Glynis Lloyd is Rhys's mum. She hit him when she discovered that he had hidden her husband's original will. Glynis was persuaded by Clemmie to get rid of the body as she thougth she had killed him. 
• Tabby and Felicia Lloyd (15) are Lloyd's twin daughters. They are Seren's half-sisters. The girls became friends during the summer 
• Bobby Stafford is one of the inhabitants at the Shore. He used to be a boxer and is now a soap opera actor. He is married to Ashleigh, but their marriage is just a sham. Then he falls for Mia, the cleaner, so in the end he leaves his wife.
• Ashleigh Stafford is Bobby's wife. She is an influencer and also popular on reality shows. 
• Clemence Northcote moves to the Shore too. She is not rich, but she reaches an agreement with Rhys. The reason why she wants to live at the Shore is to move her son away from bad influences. When Rhys demands she pay all the money, she is desperate. That is why she saw her problem solved when she saw Rhys cold on the ground. She convinced Glynis to get rid of the body, and made her see that she was helping her. In the end she is arrested and charged with murder. 
• Caleb Northcote is Clemmie's son. He got in trouble with law because she fell with the wrong crowd. Caleb fell for Seren, but when he realised that she was infatuated with Rhys, he was very disappointed. In the end Seren realises that she had been a fool and agrees to spend time with Caleb. 
• Jonty Charlton is Rhys's financial partner. Jonty and Yasmin have an affair.
• Blythe Charlton is Jonty's wife. 
• Ceri Jones (40) is the postwoman. When she was a teenager, Rhys bullied her because she liked girls. His cruelty traumatised her so much that Ceri gave up her dreams to go to university.
• Mia is the cleaner working at the Shore. She and Bobby fall in love, and he leaves Ashleigh for her. 
• Steffan Edward is the boathouse owner. He used to be an alcoholic but managed to get sober. Steffan brought Rhys his idea of making money out of tourists, and Rhys encouraged him. Yet, Rhys betrayed him so he started to drink again. 
• Allie is Leo's ex-wife. She is quite horrible to Leo and threatens to take their son to Australia. In the end, Leo threatens to take her to court, and she finally agrees to respect Leo's rights as a father. 
• Izzy Weaver is the pathologist.
• Elijah Fox is Izzy's assistant, and he is the one to come up with the idea that Rhys died of poisoning. 
• DI Malik is Ffion's boss. 
• Dominic is Allie's partner. 
• Harris Brady is Leo's son.
• Deirdre Huxley (72) is an old woman who has a reputation for being a witch. She had a boat, and this was the one that Clemmie used to get rid of Rhys. Then Seren tried to use the boat to run away but the boat had been damaged and sinks. 
• DC Parry is Leo's partner.
• DC Clements is Leo's partner.
• DC Thorngate is Leo's partner.
• DC Walton is Leo's partner.
• DC Thirkell is Leo's partner.
• Elra Hughes is the local primary school teacher.
