Customers flow to the hotel when little Wanda sends an article to the newspaper, claiming that there is a ghost. And she has even found out in the local library about the fire and Grace dying. So she is certain that the ghost is Grace.
Lizbet starts a relationship with the chef, Mario, and even though she tells herself that she won't fall in love again, she can't help falling for Mario. Then her insecurities make her suspect that Mario is interested in the fitness instructor, Yolanda, and she breaks up with him.. Then she discovers that Yolanda is actually in a relationship with Beatriz, the pastry chef, and she goes to confess to Mario how she feels.
Alexandra has a close call when she gets involved with the wrong man, one of the customers. The man almost attacks her, and she can escape him thanks to Grace's intervention. That is a turning point for Alexandra. When she discovers that Edie's ex boyfriend is blackmailing her, using some explicit photographs of her, Alexandra takes matters into her own hands and threatens the young with the police, and Edie gets her money back. This brings the two women together.
Alexandra, though, has not learnt her lesson, and she tries to force Jonathan Bick to give him more money. Yet, he tells his wife, and Heidi comes to the hotel to find her, but Alexandra has decided to leave. This time Edie calms Edie down, and the latter says that she won't go to the police as long as Alexandra leaves her husband alone. Edie goes to find Alexandra and begs her not to go. Alexandra agrees to stay, but at the end of the book, she plans to find pastures new.
In August Xavier, the owner, comes to stay, and Lisbet has prepared everything for him. Xavier and Magda have been having a relationship, but when he asks her to marry him, she turns him down, saying that she doesn't love him.. Xavier leaves the next day.
Kimber and her children, Wanda and Louie leave at the end of August. Kimber started a relationship with Richie, and they agree that when the season for the hotel finishes, he will join her. Then the police arrest Richie because he has been involved in a fraud.
Shortly afterwards the hotel gets the five-key review from Shelly Carpenter, and from the review they discover that Shelly Carpenter is Kimber. Lisbet is delighted, but her good spirits soon deflate when Xavier says that he has put the hotel on the market, and there is someone interested to build some offices.
Thankfully, Magda and Chad's father talk and they agree to buy the hotel together. They have been friends for a long time. So the hotel will open again next summer. Edie is promoted to chief receptionist, and she and Zeke start seeing each other.
Grace can rest in peace finally when her old bosses's son dies and leaves the diary of his father to his nurse. So the nurse brings the diary to Lizbet, and in the diary Jack Benedict explains how he was in love with Grace, and he also describes how the day of the fire his wife hid from him the fact that he had locked Grace in her room. Jack kept quiet as he couldn't expose the mother of his son, but he has always regretted his cowardice.
I enjoyed the book and it was a nice read.
