RATING: GOOD
SPOILERS!!!Gracie and Minnie Maude try to find out where Uncle Alf was and why he was murdered. Their questions are dangerous, and Mr Balthazar, the man who Gracie asked for help, tells them to stay put because they are putting their lives in jeopardy. The two girls agree to obey. Yet, several days later Minnie Maude has disappeared, and Gracie fears she has been kidnapped.
Mr Balthazar and Gracie try to find her, and Mr Balthazar thinks that the key of the matter lies in opium. Uncle Alf found some metal basket, which supposedly contained opium that someone had to pick up. That's why he was killed because the man is an addict and was trying to get his opium, but Alf didn't have it. The mystery gets resolved when Mr Balthazar and Gracie confront Minnie Maud's other uncle, Stan, who was the person who was supposed to provide the opium. Minnie Maud is found and rescued.
Minnie Maud and Gracie find the casket, but it is empty. Mr Balthazar tells them of a Navitivy Scene where they can go to and present the casket to Baby Jesus. The two girls go there, and they find Charlie, the donkey, and Minnie Maud throws herself to the animal and can't be happier.
I enjoy the book and getting to know these two girls.
