SPOILERS!!!
During the funeral of Prue's father, people eat and drink, and there is a custom for a person named sin-eater to eat some bread and drink some wine that has been left near the coffin, which will mean that the person will take the sins of the dead person. The sin-eater can't come to the funeral, so Gideon volunteers to do it, but he demands his mother give him the farm, and she agrees.
Later when they walk home, Gideon tells Prue that they are going to work hard to become rich, and he says that Prue won't get married because she has some kind of condition, which makes her ineligible for marriage. Gideon says that if they get money, she will heal and may marry. And then he made her swear that she will never leave him and work hard.
I am curious to know what is the problem with Prue and why Gideon says that boys won't marary her.
