The next chapter we are introduced to Madison Attalee, a private detective whose main line of work is marital affairs. Madison used to be in the police but for some reason that finished. When she reads about Kate Reynolds being released, we discover that she was the detective who was first at the crime scene.
Then Kate calls her because she wants her to discover the truth. She has always thought that she killed Naomi; that night she was drunk and she hardly remembers anything, but lately she has been doubting what happened six years ago.
