SPOILERS!!!
Erika gets CCTV footage from the night when Jamie went out with a couple of friends. The images show the three men meeting five women who looked identical with tight lace dresses and long, black hair. The footage in the building shows that the five women and three men got into Jamie's flat and at about five in the morning, the two friends and four women left, and the fifth woman stayed behind, and she left at around 11 o'clock.
Erika is certain that this crime is linked to Lomas's, and by checking the police records, Erika finds information about a man called Terry DeVille, who was also found dead in similar circumstances. She and McGorry go to the house where they find a man who claims to have been the dead man's boyfriend and he is living here because he is homeless. There are dozens of albums with polaroid photos showing intimate moments with men, and the friend says that they were artistic photographs. Then Erika finds a jewellery box in the bathroom, and she notices that there is a secret compartment. It is there where the three polaroid photos signed by Annabelle are found.
There are parts that are told from the perspective of Annabelle. We discover that as a child she lived with her mother and stepfather. Her stepfather beat up her mother and abused Annabelle. The man killed her mother when he threw her down the stairs. When weeks later the man came to her bedroom and leaned out of the window to hide something in the chimney, Annabelle pushed and killed him.
Annabelle goes to visit someone she got some wigs from, who she calls Jessica, and when the woman is turned, she grabs a monkey wrench out of her handbag and she kills her. We understand that Jessica could be the one to recognise her in connection with the murder of Jamie Teague.
Erika has to appear in the press appeal, but she has been told not to mention Lomas, but as the appeal is live, she disregards her orders and mentions that Jamie's murder is connected to Lomas's, which angers her superiors.
When Erika interviewed Jamie's friends, one of them remembers that one of the girls had a handbag that had the name Holger on the lid. Erika discovers that the name refers to a costumes hire company, and she and Dahlia go to the place. The woman in charge, Rah, tells her that she hired five wigs, dresses and clutch bags to a make-up artist, specialised in prosthetics, and she should have returned the items the day before, but she hasn't. The make-up artist is Jessica. Erika and Dahlia go to the address, and the police officer that arrived before them broke down the door, and they find Jessica dead.
When they are waiting for the pathologist, Erika gets a call from Moss, telling her that she has heard that she is supposed to have a meeting in Westminster in half an hour. Erika gets Dahlia to give her a lift to the underground station, and she manages to get to Westminster in time but soaked to the skin. Marsh is there, and she realises that he doesn't want there. They are met by Richard Gaynor, a big name in the conservative party, and two men and a woman. They are told about a woman, Damsa Afridi, who is now in a deportation centre. This woman had a relationship with Lomas and got pregnant, and then she started to blackmail him. These bigwigs want Lomas to be investigated, but they warn Marsh and Erika that they shouldn't disclose any information that is nothing to do with the crime, and they make them sign a non-disclosure agreement, which Erika signs reluctantly. When Erika voices her misgivings, the woman tells her every single detail about Erika's life and past, hinting that they have the power. Erika doesn't understand why these people are so worried about a man who is dead.
Later Dahlia calls to tell her that they have found Jessica's diary on top of her cistern in the bathroom, and Erika asks her to bring it to her. There is no reference to the business Jessica had with the five women.
