RATING: OKAY. FAR-FETCHED
SPOILERS!!!
Rachel and Brickall focus on investigating Lola's parents because there are things in their behaviour that are fishy.
Gavin is arrested when Rachel and Brickall watch him and his brother take a big package out of the place where Andy works. When they search Andy's house, they find out that they took some material for Gavin to sell. Gavin is arrested and sentenced to two years whereas his brother's sentenced is suspended, and his bosses are lenient and allow him to get his job back.
Then the focus is on Michelle. They discover that she is not living in her current address but with her sister Lisa, and she reasons that she can't stand all the memories her house has. By checking the accounts they discover that Michelle took 30,000 pounds from the money that people had donated. Michelle says that she used the money to hire a private detective, but when they find the man, he says that he was never hired by the woman.
Something that confuses Rachel is that when Lisa's children go to the school, they walk with other neighbour's children, and instead of four, there are five. When she asks, Lisa says that it must be another friend of theirs from school.
Then Rachel accompanies the local detective to the crime scene. A woman has been murdered. Someone broke into her house and suffocated. The woman's name is Carly Wethers. Rachel is angry when the press shows a picture of hers there, claiming that the two crimes are related. Then when they question Carly's young son, he says that it is his fault that his mum died because he revealed a secret he had sworn to keep. He says that at school there is a boy called Harry Brown, and when one day it started to rain and they were asked to get changed, he saw that Harry didn't have what boys have, and he told him to keep his secret. Yet, he told his mum. Rachel discovers that Carly is the woman who left messages on FaceBook claiming that she knew what had happened to Lola. Rachel then finds out that Michelle rented a house that was on the back of Lisa's.
Little by little the revelations make sense, and they even discover a secret room in Michelle's house with traces of Lola's blood. By intercepting Lisa's mobile, they realise that Michelle has left Lola somewhere and has given her some drug. The plan is to move to Australia. The police are late for Michelle's plane, but they find out that Lisa and Lola would be on the next plane. The problem is to find Lola, and they finally find her in a suitcase left in a storage service. Lisa and her husband are chased by the police, and they have an accident and Lisa dies. Michelle is arrested in Australia and Rachel travels there to escort her back to England.
Now Lola is with social services, and her father, who is in prison, wants her to go to his brother and his family, and Rachel tells him that she will try to sort out things.
I liked the mystery, but I think that some things were not believable. I can't believe that nobody in a school noticed that the new boy was actually a girl. It didn't make sense for me.
