SPOILERS!!!
I finished the book this morning, and like all the other books it was a great read.
One of the people who Robin and Cormoran wanted to talk to is Tish, Rupert's flatmate's girlfriend. They follow her on Instagram, and the girl posts that she has been hired by a hotel chain, which he knows Charlotte's mother is the owner of. So he decides to travel and see Tara, and she gains access by claiming that she is bringing some jewel. When Tara sees him, she is not pleased at all, but Cormoran takes no for an answer. He has spotted something in the living room, and he confronts her about it. What she has in the living room is the silver piece that Rupert stole from Dino, Decima's father. So Cormoran explains his theory. Rubert came to Tara and sold her the silver nep, and then Tara found him a job in a hotel. Tara has to admit that it is true, but he says that he doesn't know where Rupert is. After that, Cormoran calls Decima to tell her that Rupert is alive and he is not the man in the vault. Decima is unhappy and wonders why Rupert left her.
Robin is attacked after talking to Faber Whitehead. She didn't check, and the man was waiting for her in the car. Thankfully, she used her bottle of pepper spray and managed to get rid of the man. However, that attack left her traumatised. Cormoran tells her to work from home, and Robin realises that he needs to see a therapist and asks advice from Prudence.
Surprisingly, Cormoran gets to meet his father, Rokeby. Stuart, the journalist, tells him that Culpepper is preparing an article about him and Bijou, so Cormoran knows he has to take action. So he goes to his father because he needs a good lawyer, and Rokeby has contacts. The lawyer assures him that he will stop the article and he'll even get a retraction from a previous article. Cormoran and Rokeby talk, and the interest is more obvious in Rokeby's, but Cormoran later admits that he liked him better than he thought, and when he left, he agreed they could meet for a drink sometime.
Cormoran and Robin have a meeting with Lord Oliver Branfoot, who surprises them when he appears with Kim, who obviously leaked information to him and subsequently to Culpepper. Before he sits to have dinner, he calls the journalist and tells him about Danny De Leon contacting him for an article about Sir Oliver. Branfoot is quite nasty, hinting that people will know that Murphy has leaked information to Robin, and he also says that it is immoral to string someone like Decima along. Then Cormoran confronts him, telling him about his flat and how the press will have a field day with the information. Cormoran has sent people to the address because he expected the man to go straight there, and that is what happens. When Robin and Cormoran are left with Robin, he also threatens to make it public the fact that Kim was suspended for her behaviour with a married fellow policeman, and Kim also leaves.
The conclusion of the case comes when Robin notices something on Chloe Griffith's instagram. Cormoran, Barclay and Wardle break into Griffiths's home, and when they open a trapdoor, they find a girl tied to some pipes. This is one of the girls who Oz contacted and went missing. Then they hear a noise and Wynn Jones appears and Cormoran knocks him down. Then Griffith and his friends return, and Cormoran also disarms Griffith and the others are also reduced. Cormoran confronts them and we discover that Griffiths is the evil man who has committed many murders. He was in cahoots with Todd, who had met when they were both lorry drivers. They had a sex ring going on, even in Europe. Tyler suspected that something was off, and Todd convinced him to find a job in the silver shop, and he intended to save money and have Chloe with him. That night they used a wardrobe in the shop to hide, and that is when they killed Tyler, and they hid all the silver behind the wardrobe, and then they mutilated because they didn't want him to be identified because it would link him to them. Griffiths also killed Sofia because she was tricked into helping him and then he had no use of her, and he also killed Todd and his mother. The man who attacked Robin was also under his thumb. And he was the man who killed Reatta in Belgium, and Chloe was Jolanda, her daughter. After all the men are arrested and the girl rescued, the police find the remains of Jolanda/Chloe under the floor.
Seele is found dead and Cormoran goes to his funeral. Robin then goes to Sardinia where she finds Rupert working as a waiter. They talk and Rubert admits that the reason he left Decima is that he discovered that she was his half-sister because her father slept with his mother. Robin persuades him to talk to Decima because they have a child in common. On her return Decima talks to her and Cormoran and she feels deflated to learn the truth, but she says that even though she and Rupert can't be involved, they will look after their son.
Then in the last chapter we have what we have been expecting all throughout the novel: Cormoran's declaration. It is Murphy's birhtday and Robin is to meet him at the Ritz. She fears he will propose, and Cormoran knows that a proposal is expected because Murphy told Iverson who told Wardle. Then as she is living, Cormoran tells her that he knows that Murphy may propose and she doens't have to accept. Then he says that he is in love with her. Robin doesn't take it good and says that his intention is to save the agency, but he insists that is not the reason and insists on his declaration. Robin is still angry and tells him why he didn't say a word during all those years she was single and free. She is upset and she leaves, and Cormoran is left there in the agency, and Pat comes to console him.
I am looking forward to the next book and I wonder what will happen next.
