These are the characters in the series for future reference:
- Molly Gray (25) is the narrator and main character. Molly is a peculiar character and seems to be on the autistic spectrum. In any case, she is quite naive and socially awkward. Molly grew up with her grandmother as her mother, who was a drug addict, left her when she was very young. Molly lost her grandmother a few months ago, and she misses her terribly. Molly works as a room maid in the Regency Grand Hotel, a job she adores. In the book Molly finds herself involved in a murder when she discovers the body of Mr Black, and she is accused of her murder. Molly is helped by Mr Nelson and her daughter who is a laywer, Charlotte, and they get Rodney to be arrested and sentenced. At the end of the book Molly is promoted to head cleaner, and she is in a relationship with Juan Manuel. We also discover that when her gran was dying, she was in so much pain that she asked Molly to finish her torture, and Molly asphysiated her. We also discover that Molly knew all along that the person who had killed Mr Black was his first wife. She saw her in the mirror, and Mrs Black explained that Mr Black had ruined her life. Molly helped Mrs Black to leave and cleaned everything so that there was no trace of her in the room.
- Alexander Snow is the hotel manager.
- Charles Black is the victim. Molly found him dead in his room. Mr Black was a violent man who hurt his wife. He also ran a drug ring from the hotel with Rodney.
- Giselle Black was Mr Black's second wife. From the first she treated Molly as if she were a friend. Giselle regretted marrying her husband when she discovered what kind of man he actually was. Giselle had a relationship with Rodney. Molly calls to warn her that the police are going to arrest Rodney, and Giselle flees to the Cayman Islands. At the end of the book Giselle sends Molly ten thousand dollars.
- Juan Manuel Morales is the Mexican dishwasher in the hotel. Juan Manuel was forced to work for Rodney and his thugs, cutting cocaine. When Molly is accused of murder, he helps her to catch Rodney. At the end of the book Juan Manuel and Molly live together as a couple.
- Rodney Stiles is the head bartender in the hotel. Molly had a thing for him, and he used her obvious fondness to use her. Rodney and Mr Black worked a drug ring from the hotel. In the end Rodney is arrested and sentenced.
- Mr Preston is the hotel doorman. It was through him that Molly got the job as her gran was friends with Mr Preston. The man helps Molly when she is arrested as his daughter is a lawyer. Mr Preston reveals at the end of the book that he and Molly's gran were engaged once, but her parents did not approve. The man hints that Molly is her granddaughter.
- Cheryl Green (Chernobyl) is Molly's supervisor and Molly does not like her as she is not a good worker and often takes the tips intended for her workers. It is Cheryl who accuses Molly to the police. At the end of the book Molly gets her job and she is demoted to simple maid.
- Sunshine is a maid in the hotel.
- Sunitha is the maid in the hotel.
- Mr and Mrs Chen are regular guests at the hotel. They are from Taiwan and he sells textiles.
- Victoria Black is Mr Black's daughter.
- Mrs Black is Mr Black's first wife. She is the real murderer.
- Detective Shark is the police officer in charge of the case.
- Flora Gray was Molly's grandmother.
- Mr Rosso is Molly's landlord.
- Charlotte Preston is Mr Preston's daughter. She is a lawyer and helps Molly when she is arrested.
- Judge Wight is the judge in the bailing hearing when Molly is accused of murder.
- Ricky is Sunshine's son, and he is a new maid in the hotel.
