In present time Alex is not happy with Zara, Beth's friend, who is staying with them temporarily. He starts to suspect that she may not even be pregnant. And in a conversation with him he starts wondering if she knows something, because she mentions him having changed his name in his twenties because Beth has told her.
It seems that Alex and Rick are the same person because he remembers Marina and their momens of intimacy. Yet, I wonder if Alex could be Rollo, Rick's new flatmate. I also wonder if Marina is telling the truth. Rollo persuades Rick to go and spy on Marina's husband as she is away at a spa that weekend. Rick agrees, and when they approach the house, they hide as they see Drew appear, and then a woman in a bathrobe comes to the room, and they start kissing. This means that Drew is being unfaithful to Marina. Before they leave, the two men are approach by a neighbour, who threatens to call the police.
Then that night Rick tells Marina about what he saw, and she is upset and angry with him. Rick though that this could mean that Marina shouldn't be afraid of leaving him, but Marina doesn't think so, and before she leaves, she tells him that what he has told her is not news as she knows what her husband is up to. I don't know but I don't think Marina is completely honest, and she may be taking advantage of Rick.
